Beaumont Hospital's department of Urology is conducting a clinical research study for men who have the diagnosis of chronic prostatitis(CP) or chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS). It is a phase II, open-label, 16 week drug (CC-10004, also known as apremilast) study.

Due to the inflammatory nature of CP/CPPS, most prior therapies have focused on targeting the inflammation. CC-10004, in several studies, has shown to be an inhibitor of inflammatory mediators and may decrease the pain experienced from CP/CPPS.

Men, 18 years and older with at least 3 months of symptoms of CP/CPPS (pain in the pelvic area, penis, scrotum or perineum) who are refractory to other therapies (e.g. NSAIDS) may be eligible to participate.
